It has begun

The last 36 hours have been pretty busy, in a very good way.
I feel like this very well could be the turning point for this deployment, which is a very good thing. As of yesterday morning we got word that we were approved to start our new role, in our new office- time, now. After that it was like some intense combination between musical chairs and hot potato in our office while we all scrambled to get our belongings and office equipment over to our new workplace and set up.
I made about 20 trips back and forth to carry things, find things and do random tasks to prepare for the new role and I am happy to say that I now have an office in a real building! Not only that but my office has a real, albeit beat up, desk, and wonderfully comfortable rolly chair and indoor flushing toilets!!
That's right, folks now I only have portapotties in my living area. I'm dealing with that by just going to the bathroom right before I leave work at night and trying not to drink water when I'm in my room. Not the best way to stay hydrated I know, but it's better than facing portapotties that have urine-cicles forming in the middle of the night! Before we know it I'll be getting the go-ahead and doing another mad-dash but this time it will be for a nicer room! I can't wait!
Until then, I'll spend my free time tidying up my new office.

This desk may look pretty beat up, but as far as deployment furniture it might as well be solid oak with a granite countertop, and I am fully enjoying having a smooth floor and functional wheels on my chair as well.
Now that I've got this little moral boost the next couple weeks will fly by, and then I'll be enjoying the double-bonus of a new room. By the time I get used to those added bonuses we'll be shifting roles again (no moving required that time), and then before I know it, it will be time to come home!
Isn't it crazy how much a new office can change the tone of things? The TV and toilets sure help too!

In other news; I went and got a sandwich for lunch today.

I guess I wanted a mayo-free sandwich anyways..? Oh, Afghanistan.
