Some people's kids

I suppose I should have seen it coming; moving into a building that is top to bottom filled with women is a recipe for problems. I use the term women although I should probably say girls since the average age in the military is about 21.
With my positively glorious new room has come a little drama. I have been oblivious to said drama, mostly because I simply don't care about drama- so drama and I tend to avoid one another.
It all started on Sunday.. We were given our rooms on Friday or Saturday and as I mentioned in an earlier post, we had to do our moving around our work so it came in bits and pieces. One of my friends wasn't able to find the time to move in until about 3am on Sunday (she works a goofy shift). Well a day later she recieved a nasty-gram because apparently as soon as the current girls living on our floor learned that we were moving in they adjusted the cleaning roster and put our rooms on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Guess who had Sunday? That's right, the girl that hadn't even moved in yet! And then when she didn't clean, instead of coming to her, knocking on her door or leaving a note letting her know that there was a cleaning roster they played telephone with about 4 different people to pass her the message. When she found out she was far nicer than I would have been. She immediately apologized and offered to swap days with whoever it was that had covered down on her day. I would have shrugged at the person that told me, said, "My bad" and went on with my life as I waited for my turn next month.
After that bit of 'miscommunication' we both assumed that it was done and forgot all about the passive aggressive behavior.. until today.
Today we received an email informing us that there was supposed to be a meeting between the senior leaders from each group living in the building, because there was a hygiene and cleanliness issue in the womens bathroom. Both of us were extremely confused (the bathrooms are cleaned every day and even 10 minutes BEFORE the cleaning they look freshly cleaned) so we scrolled to the very bottom of the message traffic and started to educate ourselves in Petty Fobbit Drama 101. This new issues started when someone from a different floor sent out an email to the girls on her floor explaining that new people had moved in and that if they were in their bathrooms to let her know so that they could be added to the cleaning roster. It went on to tell the girls that she had discovered something distrubing last night in the bathroom and then was forced to witness something even more disturbing this very afternoon! She reminded the girls to clean up after themselves and ended the conversation.
The next email was from Ms Tattle-tale. She forwarded the email (that was sent to the 1st floor girls) to her bosses and in the body of the email she told them that this was OUR FAULT because they never had any problems before we moved in (she really needs to work in military intelligence because that was a BRILLIANT assessment), and if we didn't clean up after ourselves and follow the rules then we could move back into the caves that we came from. Talk about professionalism and tact; this girl should run for office with her uncanny way with words.
That email was met by a reply from one of her bosses explaining that the email was far too vague and they needed to clarify what they were talking about before anything could be done about it. He also told her to watch the way she talked about people and to not point fingers at someone unless she had actual proof, but if it happened again to take pictures and document the issues. What is this, a criminal investigation?! What on earth did someone do in that bathroom that was so grossly offensive?!
So after reading through the handful of emails we decided to call the very first person that sent the email and fiure out what on earth was going on. After that conversation we learned two things: 1. The woman that incinuated that we were heathens was the only one making a big deal about us and the rest of them didn't think it was us, nor do they have a problem with us and 2. The offenses that were "to graffic" (yes I typed to instead of too, it's a direct quote, typo and all) to discuss over email was a toilet with unflushed bloody toilet paper in it... THEY RAISED HELL OVER AN UNFLUSHED TOILET!!!!

It is incredibly frustrating to me that people will make a big deal about things like this ever, let alone while they are deployed! I am just thankful to have an indoor bathroom; I am not about to 1. make a mess in it or 2. complain if I have to flush the toilet before and after I use it. AT LEAST THE TOILET FLUSHES!!!
These girls must have an easy mission if they have nothing better to stress about than toilet standards- I wish that I had that much time on my hands. . .

Moral of the story: If you have a problem with someone or something, go straight to the source, causing drama is not a very good way to make friends or keep from getting high blood pressure.

Is it multi branch housing? Also, as a senior NCO I would have contacted the supervisor of the whiny little turd. Combat zone is a not Drama zone.

Be the bigger, more mature person here. Just as you indicated, go directly to the source. Let them know that even 10 year old children know the first step in dealing with, and correcting a problem is to speak directly to the source if the problem. (Of course, don't actually compare them to a 10 year old...that is just demeaning to poor 10 year olds everywhere!)
