Matt so kindly spend New Year's Day working on this bench so that the painting I bought him for our anniversary doesn't look out of place on the wall.
Its perfect for an entryway because of the bottom shelf for shoes and the storage space for whatever you want (ours will quickly be full of beanies and scarves, most of which I have crocheted in my free time out here!). I love Matt's decorative touches with the poinsettas and scentsy but when I get home I am going to make a little cushion for the bench. Mostly because I have a feeling that the flowers and scentsy will get destroyed being that close to little and not so little bottoms as they take off and put on shoes!
This is the second set of plans we have followed from Ana-white.com and I'm just as impressed as last time!

To this only took about 3 hours
It could have been quicker, but there were some difficulties getting everything level. Nothing a little wood putty can't fix, though!
After that comes the stain. For the bench we chose Minwax Mahogany to match our dining room table.
We applied two coats and I'm very happy with the way it turned out!
This is another weekend project, and at $60 I highly recommend trying it out! I've seen the same bench painted light blue and sanded around the edges to look antique and I've seen it used in living rooms as a perfect coffee table that hides your magazines and remotes. However you decide to use it, you won't be disappointed.
