Happy Easter y'all!
I know I'm a few days late but I spent the weekend with family and I only picked up my phone when there were pictures to be taken.
Alexis and I started off the holiday with some matching "Easter egg" manicures. Have any of you ever painted a toddler's nails? Well if you haven't, it's not an easy process. I let her pick out the colors and she did a great job holding still. For 2 minutes. Then her toddlerhood kicked in and she could not stop wiggling for the life of her.
I asked if she wanted to take a break and do it later but she was determined to get her Easter egg nails! In an attempt to distract and keep her still I handed over my phone. She flipped through my photos in record time, accidentally deleting a few, thank you Becca for reminding me to back up my photos last week! Then managed to turn on a Rolling Stones song via iTunes Radio. She then flipped through 5-6 songs all while I managed to complete, oh, maybe 2 nails. Maybe.
Then she decided she wanted to take a picture of me. After 6 pictures of my knee, abdomen, shoulder and the wall she got two with my face actually in them.
I finally finished her nails and she successfully captured photos of the floor, her legs, my legs and her hair bows.
Then begins the hilarious process of drying her nails. I take one hand and steadily blow on each nail, and she huffs and puffs and just about makes herself pass out while trying to blow on the nails on her other hand. The poor thing doesn't aim though, so really she's just blowing on her wrist, my face and anything else she happens to look at!
It was rainy and cold for half the weekend, but the kids had their cousins and they weren't about to let a little rain dampen their spirits. It did, however, dampen their clothes, hair and shoes as they jumped in the puddles and ran like maniacs between storms.
After stripping off their soaked clothes we threw them in some old t-shirts and began the egg coloring.
This little goofball attempted to color eggs like this until she realized how hard it was to do anything without depth perception!
Our weekend was filled with family, candy, pastels and wardrobe changes.
To sum it up, I would say it was just about perfect. If we had been able to get one picture of all of the kids in their Easter clothes it truly would have been perfect. However, when you try taking pictures of 5 kids that are all 5 and under 50% are blurry photos, 20% have a child crying, 20% have a hand, arm or leg covering someone's face and 10% are hilarious. Sorry there weren't any gems in the batch, Granna!
I hope y'all had a wonderful holiday as well!
Now if you'll excuse me- I need to go stuff my face because my post-Easter-candy 5 mile run left me famished!
