Saying goodbye

After 5 weeks with Court and Miel, today was the day we gave them back to the shelter.
The day we picked them up they barely weighed 1lb each, they were terrified of everything, ate soft food, didn't know how to drink water and had intense diarrhea.
But oh weren't they cute?!
It took a week to get them to drink water and nibble on hard food, 10 days to get them less terrified of everyone and two weeks to get rid of the terrible diarrhea. Once they were healthy they started growing like weeds and playing non-stop!

Now they're a monstrous 3lbs each! They love to lay in the clean clothes as I fold laundry- which makes folding it a little difficult.

They also love attention from us, the kids and Court even likes to play with Winny, our 5 month old lab.

This was our first experience fostering and I am thrilled with how it turned out. The shelter took care of all of their shots and medicine and once they were 2lbs they scheduled and covered their spay/neutering. After that we got to love on them for two days of post-op and then this morning it was off to the shelter so they can be adopted by forever homes.
If any of you were thinking about getting a kitten or just like animals and have a little bit of extra time, I HIGHLY recommend it. Matt and I both work full time but we had no problem giving the kittens the love and attention they needed for the time they were here.
And as I mentioned in a previous post- your kiddos can get community service hours for it! Because when you boil it down, you're donating a little time and money to save space in the shelter so that they don't have to euthanize any animals!
Snuggle a cute kitten or puppy for a few weeks to save a life? It doesn't get any better than that.

If you're interested, visit your local shelter's website or give them a call. If they don't offer fostering, they know someone that does.
