Pregnant Status: Three Months

Yes, that is Spiderman our cat, attacking my leg while we take the picture.

Well, I am now 12 weeks pregnant and much to my dismay, the second trimester doesn't actually start until week 14 :/ What kind of twisted math is that? I mean seriously, society tells women that pregnancy is 9 months and that there are three trimesters then at month three it's like, 'oh, just kidding it's actually 9 plus months and that morning sickness you thought would be over? Nah. You have two more weeks.'
Thanks for that.

Aside from that disappointing news, things are going great! We had family in for the last week so we got to barbecue, celebrate birthdays and enjoy the relentless August heat. Speaking of August: I am so glad that I don't have an August-October due date! I don't know if it's the higher internal temperature, slower metabolism or inability to stay completely hydrated but the heat kicks my butt! I moved to Texas because I love the heat, but now a days if I'm out in the sun for more than 30 minutes I better be immersed in water because if not, this mama is cooking! Oh, and don't even think about stepping foot outside without cold water, it simply isn't possible. I have sincere, heartfelt sympathy for all of the uber-pregnant ladies in the south during August!
Speaking of being immersed in water, I am so thankful that we live so close to the lake!

I have been demoted to photographer during all of the fun events. It's hard to go from this:

Matt and I were the first two to backflip.
To this:

Especially since I still don't look pregnant! I just look like the wimp that doesn't want to do the cool stuff.
Oh well, I'm done whining about that for now!

How far along? 12 weeks. The baby is 2.5 inches long, weighs half an ounce and has almost all of it's organs/systems in place!
Total weight gain/loss: I got down to 116 earlier this week, but I think I've managed to get back to about 118, so I'm still sitting at two pounds lost.
Maternity clothes? Haven't bought any yet, and I don't know if/when I will. I have been looking at all of my long sweaters, leggings, boots and coats with envy though. I can't wait for fall so I can wear them! They've been lonely and neglected for the last year and a half (thanks Afghanistan).
Stretch marks? Nah. And my mom informed me that she didn't get any until she had twins, so I'm holding a tiny bit of hope that I can avoid them!
Sleep: Closer to normal, I still can't stay up late, but I have been feeling more rested when my alarm goes off and even waking up before it.
Best moment this week: Having family over! It was the first time I've seen my parents in over a year, so it was great to spend time with them. It's hard to live so far away, but I am so glad that they raised me to be an independent person that can raise my own family without having to live with them and depend on them to provide for me. I'm sure they appreciate that too!
Miss Anything? My appetite, and the ability to cliff jump and wake board.
Movement: Haven't felt any yet. Maybe in a week or two.
Food cravings: Breakfast foods. It's the only thing that I can eat regularly and crave on a daily basis. Thank God for Cap'n Crunch, pancakes and cinnamon rolls!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Brushing my teeth. I still throw up almost every morning but it's become my morning routine. Wake up, start to brush teeth - throw up - rinse mouth and finish brushing teeth, carry on with the day.
Have you started to show yet: Well I can definitely tell- my stomach no longer looks flat and muscular! It looks kind of pudgy, which is definitely the worst. Hopefully the bump comes soon so I don't just look out of shape!
Gender: No clue. We have names picked out, nursery themes planned and outfits ready to be purchased.. Just waiting on that ultrasound. . .
Labor Signs: Yikes! No!
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On, except when I'm cleaning.
Looking forward to: The second trimester and my morning sickness/fatigue to magically disappear.
Mood: Still haven't felt any pregnancy hormones. I'm 70% happy, 30% impatiently waiting for week 14.
Milestones: I'm finally enough weeks along that I can tell the less-interested people that I'm 'three months' along. I also am supposed to start showing pretty soon.
Upcoming Appointments/Events: No baby events coming up except the next doctors appointment in two weeks.
Weekly Wisdom: If the food doesn't sound good, DON'T EAT IT! I am all about healthy eating and providing your baby with the very best nutrition, but if you feel queasy just thinking about that V8 juice, don't waste your time drinking it just to throw it back up! Wait until the sickness passes, then you can return to your strict and healthy diet.

Today is probably the first day that I can say that I'm fully feeling this pregnancy. I've opted to stay home and take it easy instead of joining Matt on the golf course or my friends out on the boat because the A/C, never ending cold water, immediately available bathrooms and fridge full of snacks just sound so much better right now. I'm going to take advantage of the downtime and keep the house nice and clean! I might even get around to blogging about my newest Ipsy bag.. We'll see :)

If you are hoping to get that baby bump, and start to show, don't hold your breath. I didn't really start showing with Stosh until 5 months. And even them if I had a baggy shirt on nobody could tell. Sorry!!!

Thanks Sarah!
Oh and I know that no one else can tell that I have a baby bump, but Matt and I can definitely see it!
