They say my baby is as long as a scallion and as big as an eggplant. I sure hope the womb is the only time he's compared to vegetables! Although since he's now weighing in at 2 pounds, we're going to start running out of veggies here soon..
I must admit, pregnancy has been remarkably uneventful over the last couple weeks and I'm definitely counting my blessings on that front. It's especially appreciated because the rest of life has been pretty busy! This last weekend we went hunting and Matt had his last fall soccer game. Oh mylanta was it cold! My saving grace was the fact that I packed hand warmers, foot warmers and a blanket to curl up with while sitting in my deer stand! Matt braved the elements in his tree stand, but aside from seeing lots of deer on the trail cam, we didn't see much. Maybe next time.
The rest of the week has been even busier since we've been working our usual hours and filling our evenings with random projects and working on Matt's truck. It's a pain in the rear to deal with, but I'm glad that we're doing it now and not after Warren is born! I've been creating a pretty steady list of things I want to do around the house so it's a really good thing that the second trimester has been so easy on me. Up next on my list: picking paint for the nursery, repairing things our puppy has destroyed and digging up the garden (our poor tomatoes did not survive the cold front). Hopefully the weather cooperates for that one and I'm able to get it done within the next two weeks.
How far along? 26 weeks! This pregnancy is moving right along.
Total weight gain/loss: I've officially hit double-digit weight gain! Im up 10 pounds and my belly definitely feels 10 pounds bigger.
Maternity clothes? Well in my weekly picture I'm wearing a pair of jeans that I've had since high school. Thankfully I was in a low-rise phase so those jeans button below my belly! Last week I gave in and picked up maternity ACUs. The pants are great (they look goofy without the top on, but thankfully you never wear them without a jacket covering the random green panel). The maternity jacket however is atrocious!
After trying one on, I went out and bought a regular ACU top one size bigger than I normally wear. There is zero chance of me actually wearing the maternity tops. I understand that ACUs aren't meant to be stylish, but there is no way that you can wear that parachute top and look professional. I'm not here to look cute, I'm here to do my job and be taken seriously. Walking around wearing 2 extra yards of fabric just isn't going to cut it.
Stretch marks? Not yet, thankfully. However I have noticed that on days that I forget to put lotion on, my stomach is itchy! I need to double my lotion efforts and water intake to try to keep my skin as healthy as possible.
Sleep: Still getting plenty. Although last night we slept with our 10 month old lab puppy in the bed. I don't even like saying 'puppy' because it doesn't do justice to how huge she already is. She may still be growing but she is already bigger than our 9 year old lab and she has the energy of a toddler! Anyways, she got to sleep with us last night because she managed to get into something she was allergic to and her eyes were so swollen that we had to give her benadryl. Matt felt bad and let her sleep with us so we could keep an eye on her.
Best moment this week: This one was technically last week, but Matt and I went out shopping for the day, then went out to eat and to a movie. It was really nice to get out and feel the fall weather, pick up some cute Columbia jackets for the kids and log 2.5 miles walking around the outlets! It's so much easier to get your exercise in when it's not terribly cold. Oh, and the stores I was walking in and out of didn't hurt my motivation any ;)
Miss Anything? It would be nice if my army issued jackets and fleeces fit properly! With the cold front that hit everyone last week I had to dig out my cold weather gear and lets just say it's a bit tight across my belly!
Movement: Warren moves so much. None of it hurts or bothers me (yet) so I'm just enjoying the constant reminder that he's in there, and growing well.
Food cravings: Sweets. I blame Matt for that; before I was pregnant I hardly ever ate candy and now I can hardly get through the grocery store without buying a Twix or something sweet! I think it's a pretty safe assumption that Warren is going to inherit his father's sweet tooth.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope! I feel great almost all the time.
Have you started to show yet: Oh yes. Warren is growing rapidly and there wasn't much room for him to begin with, so he's made his own space.
Labor Signs: Not yet, hallelujah.
Belly Button in or out? My belly button is currently in a deformed transformation state. I give it 3-4 weeks until my innie becomes an outie.
Wedding rings on or off? Still on.
Looking forward to: Thanksgiving! Oh and making more of the delicious homemade bread I started. I recently attempted homemade bread for the first time and boy let me tell you- BEST. DECISION. EVER. It tastes so much better than store bought bread and I can make enough dough to pull out a little bit and have fresh bread whenever I want for the next two weeks. No loaf has even made it long enough to be put in the fridge for later, we devour it.
Mood: Good. I feel like staying busy with work, the holidays and projects leaves no room for made-up pregnancy drama. Although even pre-pregnancy I was very low-drama.. The only thing that seems to have heightened is my indecision about what I want to eat... oops.
Milestones: In two weeks I'll be 7 month pregnant! I'll also be in the third trimester and have my next appointment (as well as the wonderful glucose test). The time is flying by and I'm trying to enjoy all of the good things that I have before things get even crazier.
Upcoming Appointments/Events: In two weeks I'll get my next appointment, like I just mentioned. However at this point I'm far more excited about scheduling my third trimester ultrasound and taking maternity photos! I already have the date booked, now I get to finalize the outfits and look up some pose ideas to show the photographer what I like.
Weekly Wisdom: If you haven't already, look up a photographer for maternity and newborn photos! If you're super excited about it, you can also figure out outfits, places, props etc like I have (although I'm sure it's not necessary this far out!)
