A beginning

Welcome to my blog. I've decided to start this so that my wonderful and loving family can stop worrying constantly about my wayward wanderings. I'm a young college graduate that probably has too much school spirit, and an unrealistically positive outlook on life. My current adventure begins on the most wonderful of holidays.. That's right, good ole Independence Day! And this year I will be celebrating the holiday 1776 style, aka- lacing up my boots, grabbing my musket and marching out to the sounds of the trumpets and drums. No I'm not reenacting the revolutionary war; I'm heading out for an all expenses paid trip to the sandy beaches of Afghanistan. Big Army has a unique sense of humor, making us spend our beloved 4th of July on a stuffy plane enroute to a land that doesn't have fireworks, let alone watermelon and good American beer. Irony aside, I've been spending the last few weeks trying to get my affairs in order, seeing family and gobbling up all the Taco Bell and Jimmy John's I can get my hands on. I love Jimmy John's so much!! Their Beach Club is just phenomenal! Now I'm wrapping up my trip in the beautiful northwest, and trying to soak up all of the beauties and comforts that I will be without for a handful of months. Next I will face the daunting task of sorting out what I will want and need over there, and managing to fit it all in the 3 bags I'm allowed to take!

If you can suffer through my ADHD-like writing style and unique sense of humor, I promise to do my best to keep you updated on my adventures. Family- I love you all and I will try my best to fill you in on this amazing journey I've jumped head first into.
