After the rain we get blessed with the rainbows and although I wouldn't say I'm there yet, I do believe that I can see the sun peeking out from these metaphorical deployment rain clouds...
Today is definitely the best day I've had in a few weeks! Its quite possibly the best day since being out here. It started off last night really; I was able to get out of work around 7pm and that really set the tone for things. After I got out of work early, I went home and tried to finish watching Ironman 3.
side note- a few days ago I went out to the 'boardwalk' and bought 6 movies for $18. Ironman was the first one I tried to watch and after downloading the movie watching software on my laptop it played perfectly!... for the first hour and 54 minutes. Lol then it froze up, so I still haven't seen the last 10 minutes. Don't spoil it for me!
After attempting to finish the movie, I realized that I still had enough time to start another movie, so I put in Hangover 3. In case you haven't seen it, it's just as terrible as the first two. That being said, it's just as hilarious!
Then I finished the evening texting a handful of family members and talking to Matt. To actually have time to watch a WHOLE movie and talk to family in the same night is rare out here, and to do it all before 10pm is plain unheard of.
The most glorious thing about the night though, was setting my alarm for 9am, instead of 5:40am! That's right, this girl got the morning off! And I spent it the best way I could think of- rolling around in my bed, not really asleep but too lazy to get up for the day! I've never been the kind of person that likes to lay in bed after I've woken up (Matt can attest to this, I wake him up every Saturday and Sunday!) but after working 80+ hours a week for the last 30+ days, being unnecessarily lazy felt very necessary.
After that I laid in bed and talked to Matt for 30 minutes or so, then headed into work around 10:30. I was feeling good knowing that my day was going to be a quick one because regardless of what happened at work, I had a good nights sleep and a late start! So then it was icing on the cake when I got two care packages from home!! Thank you Becca and Matt <3
So now I have my soaps and lotions, food and mints, and soft sheets!!
As if my day couldn't get any better, I had a little hand delivered cherry to top it off (although I don't think I've ever had a cake with icing and a cherry on top, so I should probably have though more about the sayings I used..). My boss called me into his office and told me that he's looking at two different positions for me and that he's going to look into it and work it so that I can get moved into one of them! That means that within the next couple weeks or months I'll get moved over and do the actual work that I was trained for and enjoy!!!
It will probably come with a move to a less comfortable base and less enjoyable living conditions, but I will still have internet, I will still be able to get care packages and I'll still get to talk to my family, so I don't care!
Now I just need to go home and enjoy the remainder of the day before anything goes wrong!
