7 Weeks

I commandeered Alexis' chalkboard for my weekly (bi-weekly/semi-monthly?) belly photos. I know that there isn't even a glimmer of a baby belly yet, relax people. I decided to start the photos now so I can write little blurbs about the pregnancy to help track it.
When planning this picture I decided to go with a shirt that I can hopefully wear each week until I'm due, so that the different shirts don't detract from the main focus. I also learned that I need to work on my posture! Matt snapped a photo for me to review and I was shocked with how hunched over I was! Add that to my ever growing list of things to work on. Oh joy.

Other than taking pictures and sleeping, I've occupied my time by creating baby registries and ordering the cutest little onsies for our favorite sports teams. Have any of you ever tried to make a registry, or do anything when you don't know the gender of the baby?! It's impossible. I give so much credit to the families that don't find out the gender until it pops out. So much. That being said; they're crazy. How can you buy bedding, high chairs, burp cloths, blankets or changing pad covers LET ALONE CLOTHES?! I suppose you can go with gender neutral colors and patterns but then your little boy will be called a girl non-stop or vice versa. No thanks. Sign me up for gender confirmation as soon as physically possible. Oh and back to registries, has anyone heard of Baby List? I stumbled upon it and it's supposed to be a website that can merge your registries from others stores and allows you to have one consolidated registry where you can request things from any major retail brand OR little boutique. You can also ask for things like contributions to the college fund or 'coupons' for someone to walk your dog or clean your house when the baby comes.
It seems like a really awesome website. I'll try it out and let y'all know if it's as convenient as it sounds.
In the meantime, here's my weekly update:
How far along? 7 weeks. The baby is developing it's eyes and tongue and it's kidneys are about to start working!
Total weight gain/loss: I'm still at one pound gained although the queasiness makes it hard to not lose weight.
Maternity clothes? Not yet.
Stretch marks? I have already started using mederma and lotion daily to help get ready for the stretch marks. I'm also drinking lots of water to keep my skin hydrated.
Sleep: I'm still so tired all the time! It's hard to keep my eyes open when there's downtime at work!
I also fall asleep ridiculously early at night.
Matt snapped this picture at about 9pm and I had no idea. I sleep like the dead now.

Best moment this week: celebrating my birthday! We went out to get Tex-Mex and I had a nice non-alcoholic fruity drink that didn't make me want to throw up! That's big news because the morning sickness has ruined just about every meal I've had this week.
Miss Anything? Just my appetite.
Movement: Its going to be a few weeks before this one has any answers.
Food cravings: No I still haven't craved anything other than sleep.
Anything making you queasy or sick: the first taste of everything. I gag when I brush my teeth and at the beginning of every meal and snack. So far I've been able to keep it down though, so that's something positive.
Have you started to show yet: not at all.
Gender: We all know the answer to this. Thanks for reminding me, survey.
Labor Signs: Ha.
Belly Button in or out? In. And ghostly white. I need to get outside this weekend and enjoy the sun.
Wedding rings on or off? Still fits perfectly.
Looking forward to:  a nap. And using the Target Coupons my friend sent me to buy a ton of diapers for about half price :)
Mood: A sort of sedated version of happy. I'm still very excited and positive but it's masked by my droopy eye lids and constant yawns.
Milestones: Does first "belly picture" count? If not, then no, I haven't hit any milestones.
Upcoming Appointments/Events: None soon enough!
Weekly Wisdom: Read the baby book. Every pregnancy is different but it's a damn good indicator of what's about to start happening to your body and in your life. If you're aware you can start to prepare yourself for it. The fatigue and morning sickness started exactly when the books said they would. Obviously severity depends on the case, but it's good to look at the books and know that the fatigue is going to start fading soon and the sickness will be around for 4-5 more weeks.

I wish I had some wonderful news or a funny story to share with everyone but at 7 weeks I'm just like a regular person (that hasn't slept well in a few days and has a stomach bug). Not very exciting, I know.

congrats on the pregnancy! Bio-oil helps with stretch marks as well. Honestly, if you have family members that have them, it's inevitable to get them (I've accepted that fact for myself) but the products out there can help mitigate the appearance of the stretch marks. Congrats again! Stay active! Praying for a healthy pregnancy and the results of healthy mommy and baby... take care!
